Greenpeace protests outside the Palau de Congresos de Cataluña (Catalunya Palace of Congress) during the presentation of Samsung ahead of the Mobile World Congress to ask Samsung for a compromise to recycle the 4,2 million of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices that were defective. The way the smartphones have been made and discarded in the last 10 years is having a great impact on our planet, according to the report Greenpeace published in United States. The report explains that the manufacturing of mobiles since 2007 has required the use of 968 Twh (Terawites per hour), which is nearly equivalent to the yearly power supply of India, and the devices will contribute significantly to the 50 million tons of electronic waste that are expected to be generated in 2017.
