The country is on fire. More than 400,000 hectares have been affected by fires in 11 provinces so far this year, according to a recent report from the National Fire Management Service. Greenpeace classifies the measures for its control as insufficient and demands that the funds and infrastructure allocated to the prevention and fight against fire be expanded. Likewise, the environmental organization urgently demands the sanction of a Wetlands Law that ensures the completion of a national inventory, a moratorium that prevents any activity until said inventory is finalized and the inclusion of the figure of criminal offense. During 2020, only in the Paraná Delta there were 32,445 fire outbreaks that affected nearly 200,000 hectares, while in Córdoba more than 48,000 hectares were affected.
