With the message "If you don't need it, don't buy it", on the week of Black Friday and the Day without VAT, Greenpeace Colombia volunteers installed a roulette wheel on Calle de Las Américas with information on the impact of different products on climate change, to invite citizens to rethink their purchases and raise awareness about responsible consumption. Consumption in cities causes 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions. In Bogotá, purchases during Black Friday 2019 - the last measurement before the pandemic - were responsible for 3.6% of annual emissions. The carbon footprint generated by shopping on Black Friday can be compared to the carbon stored in 64 hectares of tropical forest.
