Greenpeace activists protest at the air base Buechel in Rhineland-Palatinate
for the withdrawal of all US American nuclear weapons from Germany. The banner on a hot air balloon reads: ”Atomwaffen abschaffen – ban nuclear weapons!". The balloon is placed in front of the premises, where about 20 US American nuclear bombs are stored. A banner below the balloon reads: ”Hiroshima-never again!”.
Christoph von Lieven, Greenpeace spokesperson for nuclear disarmament at the site of the protest.
Germany is part of the concept of nuclear sharing. That means in the event of war, German pilots are to take the US nuclear bombs to their destination.
