While the destruction of forest and forest fires in Brazil are hitting new tragic records, the Danish meat industry is continuing its massive import of soy for animal feed, especially the pork industry - a major driver of forest destruction. In fact Denmark is the world’s biggest meat producer in the world per capita - and the biggest import of soy per capita in the EU. The Danish meat industry and the government, not the least, are failing its responsibility to protect the forests as the soy is occupying huge areas in especially South America and clearing the forests - and putting immense pressure on biodiversity and climate.
