Greenpeace documents continued destruction of Riau's peatland rainforests by PT Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper (PT RAPP). PT RAPP is a subsidiary of APRIL, the pulp & paper division of the RGE Group, the biggest driver of deforestation for pulp in Indonesia. Forest and peatland destruction drives biodiversity loss and releases vast amounts of climate changing greenhouse gases. On 28 January 2014, APRIL announced that it intends to continue to use rainforest logs until at least 2020. Companies like APRIL must follow APP’s lead by immediately stopping the bulldozers and committing to strong Forest Conservation policies.
