Ecological Seeds Response to Typhoon Affected Farmers in The Philippines

A group of farmers from the islands of Cebu, Bohol and Negros – strong movers of sustainable and ecological agriculture – came together in the spirit of ‘Balaynihan’ (communal work) to aid fellow farmers by collecting ecologically farmed rice seeds, root crops, vegetable seeds and organic fertilizers . The seeds were presented to 125 of the most affected farmers by typhoon Hagupit in Dolores.
Greenpeace, GMO-Free Cebu, Asian Rural Graduate Association (ARUGA), Negros Organic Rice Industry Association (NORIA), Matabao Organic Farmers Association (MOFA), Bohol Island State University (BISU), Oriental Negros Organic Producers and Retailers Association (ONOPRA), AlterTrade, SIBAT, Harold's Dive Center, Rice Watch Action Network (R1), Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation Inc, PAKISAMA, SARILAYA, Cebu Coalition for Food Security responded immediately to the seed recovery mission in different capacities.
