Greenpeace activists unfurl a banner at Dell Computer's world headquarters. The message is for the computer company founder and CEO and reads: "Michael, What the Dell? Design out Toxics!" Based in Round Rock, Texas, United States, Dell employed more than 76,500 people worldwide as of 2009. Dell first made a commitment to phase out PVC and BFRs by the end of 2009 in March 2006. However Dell was the first company to announce it was backtracking from this commitment. While competitors like Apple, HP and Acer have made the major changes to their supply chain to deliver PVC and BFR free models at no extra cost, Dell has fallen well behind without a single PVC and BFR free model on the market.
