Activists also construct a sign in Lake Charles Louisiana warning residents of the harmful toxins in the ecosystem, which threaten human and environmental health. One of the common toxics present in the area is dioxin, an industrial by-product known to cause cancer and reproductive disorders. Once created dioxins persist in the environment for many years.
