Shoot: Gill Nets Illegal Fishing in Mexico

GP0STP8EX
Greenpeace documents the use of illegal gill nets fishing method in the Upper Gulf, the habitat of the vaquita, a rare species of porpoise, of which only less than 100 specimen are left in the wild.
According to the scientific community, gill nets fishing method is one of the main causes of death of the vaquita porpoise, as well as of the totoaba.
On April 10th 2015, Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto declared to take measures for the protection of the vaquita in this area.
From the results of Greenpeace’s investigation it's clear that the measures announced by the federal government are not being taken, while the vaquita approaches extinction.
