To better understand how contamination affects the lives of Chernobyl survivors, Greenpeace carries out investigations and meet some of the affected local people.
Five million people still live in the areas contaminated with radiation after the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant on 26 April 1986. They know the radiation is around but have little choice. Leaving the place is not an option for them either.
