The Arctic Ocean is one of the last undisturbed places left on our planet, less known to us than the moon. This world beyond imagination is home to incredible biodiversity and wildlife like blue whales and polar bears; but because of climate change, the Arctic sea ice is in rapid retreat, and for the first time in history, destructive fishing fleets and oil companies are moving in. It's vital we move quickly to protect this unknown ocean - not destroy it before we have even glimpsed its mysteries. We must become the generation that helped save the Arctic – not destroy it.

Greenpeace is calling on fishing companies to stop fishing in the northern Barents Sea and the waters around Svalbard, and for retailers, food brands and processors to no longer use suppliers that engage in destructive fishing in these waters. Greenpeace is also calling on the Norwegian government to create a ‘Marine Protected Area’ in the northern Barents Sea and the waters around Svalbard.
