Greenpeace Australia Pacific Volunteers have photographed a series of sculptures of melting tennis balls with the words "climate crisis" on them around Melbourne.

The activity accompanies a 1.5m-high sculpture of a melting tennis ball that has been installed in Federation Square.

The sculptures draw attention to the imminent threats that climate change poses to the Australian Open, which has already been disrupted by bushfire smoke and heatwaves that put players and spectators at risk.

Australian Open is a tennis tournament held annually in Melbourne, Australia.
