Volunteers plant a bee hedge at an original garden, called Tuinderij Oer in a nature reserve close to the village of Zutphen. A bee hedge is a combination of trees and plants which have flowers during different periods of the year. They attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators and also animals can rest in the hedge and are feed from the nectar. This activity is part of the Save the Bee campaign of Greenpeace. Aim is to emphasize the importance of the bees for the food production. 70% of the food crops are pollinated by bees and other insects. Beekeepers and scientists ask for measurements on this for years but governments and trade and industry react far too slow.
