Between July 28th and August 1st, the Wings of Emergency project delivered 2.3 tons of donations in remote places in Alto Purus and Alto Juruá regions, Acre state, next to the border of Brazil and Peru. With Covid-19 spreading to these areas, where one may only enter by boat or small plane, the project, besides bringing health and hygiene supplies, also supported the assembly of new field infirmaries. The Indigenous Primary Attention Unities (UAPI, in Portuguese) are structures completed or under construction next to villages on inside Indigenous Lands, equipped to assist light or moderated cases, so Indigenous Peoples don’t have to move to cities to get support.
Projeto Asas da Emergência Entrega Doações em Áreas Remotas na Amazônia
Entre os dias 28 de julho e 1° de agosto, o projeto Asas da Emergência entregou 2,3 toneladas de doações em cidades remotas do Alto Purus e Alto Juruá, no Acre, regiões próximas à fronteira com o Peru. Com o processo de interiorização da Covid-19 para essas áreas, em lugares onde o acesso só é possível de barco ou de avião pequeno, o projeto, além de continuar levando materiais para a prevenção dos povos, passou a apoiar também a montagem das enfermarias de campanha. Chamadas de Uapi (Unidade de Atenção Primária Indígena), essas enfermarias são estruturas já existentes ou em construção, próximas às aldeias ou dentro dos territórios, equipadas para o atendimento de casos leves e moderados da doença, permitindo assim o tratamento dentro das comunidades e ajudando a evitar a ida das populações indígenas para as cidades.
