Members of the local community in Epirus, together with Greenpeace Greece activists have created a human chain in front of a facility storing seismic testing equipment for fossil fuel extraction, working for oil companies Repsol and Energean Oil. With this peaceful protest, activists that are worried about their land and their future, are sending a strong message to oil companies to abandon their plans for fossil fuel extraction in one of the most beautiful areas of Greece. They are also asking the Greek Energy minister, George Stathakis, to cancel all permits for oil and natural gas extraction. The international scientific community warns that we have less than 12 years to prevent catastrophic climate change. Today, the Greek government must choose if it serves the profits of oil companies or of the Greek people.
