La Moraleja is a ranch acquired in 1978 by Spanish businessmen, who are being investigated by that country due to corruption and lack of payment of credits. The ranch comprises 30,000 hectares and it is located in the Province of Salta, close to El Rey National Park and the Pizarro National Reserve, in a transition area between the Chaco Forest and the Yungas Forest. Currently, it has 15,000 hectares of agriculture, mostly transgenic soy and 3,000 hectares of citrus fruits, mostly lemons.
The company La Moraleja S.A. is one of the main suppliers of lemon juice concentrate of The Coca Cola Company (with whom it has a 20-year contract).
Greenpeace has been publicly reporting the illegal clearings of La Moraleja S.A. since 2013.
In spite of this, The Coca Cola Company kept buying them lemon juice concentrate for its soft drinks, such as Sprite.
