Shoot: No PFC Action in Venice
GP0STRCHH
Greenpeace activists, including activists from Poland and Austria, take action in Venice, together with local movements like Climate Defense Unit, No Pfas and concerned mothers, to ask the local authorities to clean up the site of Miteni Spa, an Italian chemical company. Despite recent data showing that soil and groundwater in the factory’s site are still polluting the area, clean up operations have not yet put in place.
In the last years the Miteni factory has polluted with PFC (Poly and Per-Fluorinated Chemicals) a huge area with around one million inhabitants. PFCs are now present in the drinking water and in the blood of the residents. PFCs, used to make clothing waterproof, are very dangerous to human health and persistent in the environment.
Around 80 people participate in the protest arriving at the City council offices on Canal Grande aboard boats and inflatables and opening a big banner reading “Clean up Now!”.
