Greenpeace supports the social sailing project Mirno More by joining with an own ship and offering workshops in oceanography to the participating children. Greenpeace CEE’s ocean campaigner Antje Helms, who leads the workshops, teaches the children by showing them living creatures from the sea, some of them found by the kids themselves. The "Peace Fleet 2009" reaches a size of 100 boats with app. 800 children and young people on board.
The Mirno More Peace Fleet is an international youth regatta, organised in cooperation between Austrian NGO´s and Croatian partners. The humanitarian project allows poor, disabled and abandoned children and young people to sail one week together through the beautiful Croatian coastal waters. The Mirno More Peace Fleet was founded in 1992 with the goal of opposing the war actions in former Yugoslavia with a concrete peace initiative and has been representing tolerance, social integration, and peace ever since.
