Shoot: Entrance Blockade of NAM in Assen
GP01NP0
Eight Greenpeace activists have landed on the roof of the head office of Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) (Dutch Oil Company) with parachutes. Thirty activists blocked the main entrance to the building. A banner was hung from the rooftop with the lines: "Stop de verspilling" ("Stop the Waste") Greenpeace wants NAM to change its mind on gas extraction from the Wadden Sea. Until 1994 it was prohibited to extract gas from the Wadden Sea in the Netherlands. But now NAM (50% Shell and 50% Esso), Elf Petroland and Mobil have requested permits to extract gas again.
