Shoot: Nuclear Action Essent in Arnhem the Netherlands

GP01KOQ
Forty-seven Greenpeace activists occupy the headquarter of Essent to enforce the closing of the nuclear power plant Borssele. Greenpeace demands that Essent, the large shareholder of Borssele, closes the power station definitely in 2003. Earlier this month they already sent a letter with the same request, but the energy supplier hasn't respond to this. The activists, disguised as yellow barrels with nuclear waste, spread through the headquarter of Essent in Arnhem. Outside climbers hang a huge banner at the front of the building reading 'Duurzame energie van Essent, daar kunt u nog eeuwen mee voort', which translates to English as 'Sustainable energy of Essent, with that you can go on for centuries'. The text aims at the growing nuclear waste, that will become a danger for coming generations for many thousands of years. In 1994 the Dutch Parliament decided to close Borssele in 2003. However the board of directors of the nuclear power plant denies the agreements. The Netherlands has taken the matter to court. Greenpeace will sustain the action until the board of directors of Essent will agree on closing Borssele.
