Since time immemorial, Delhi has held a special place in the history of India and the rest of the world. Seat of many powerful kingdoms in the past, Delhi even today is the capital of the world’s largest democracy and an emerging economy. However, in recent times, this great city has slowly become powerless.
Delhi faces a huge electricity crunch, especially during the summers when six-hour-long power cuts are a daily affair. Last July’s national blackout showed how vulnerable Delhi is to a large electricity failure and international ridicule. It showed how within two days, in the absence of electricity, life in the metro came to a grinding halt and the city was shamed while the state government remained clueless.
Considering this, a few people in Delhi-NCR have switched to renewable energy to show how free and abundant electricity can be had without depending on the government. They are showcasing how renewable energy can help the city overcome the power crunch and fulfill its energy needs. Meet the Green Warriors who have taken up the first step to bring power and glory back to Delhi.
