Shoot: “Detox” Second-Hand Clothes Event in Amsterdam

GP0STO4A6
At the second-hand market called “IJ-hallen” in Amsterdam, a young group of fashion loving people (among which were a number of Greenpeace volunteers), organized a photo competition. The challenge was to find and buy a second hand outfit at the market for no more than €20 and have a portrait made by fashion photographer Mandy Brander. All portraits are put on the Facebook site of “Fashion against Toxics” and an award for the best looking outfit was given to the winner.
With the "Detox" campaign, Greenpeace demands fashion brands commit to zero discharge of all hazardous chemicals by 2020, and require their suppliers to disclose all releases of toxic chemicals from their facilities to communities at the site of water pollution. This event is organized to draw attention to young adults to the creative possibilities of second hand clothes.
