Forest Action at Nestlé HQ in Frankfurt

Greenpeace activists protest with huge screen on a truck and 25 x 15 meter banner at the Nestle headquarters in Frankfurt/Main. For the first time ever consumers can participate via twitter in the Greenpeace action. The banner on the facade of the Nestle building shows an orangutan threatened by a Kitkat candy bar. Nestle has canceled its direct contracts with the Indonesian palm oil producer Sinar Mas, but it is still buying palm oil via Sinar Mas subcontracters. Deforestation for palm oil production in Indonesian rainforest is destroying the habitat of the endangered orangutan.

Aktion gegen Palmoel vor Nestle Konzerntore 
Auf einer Grossbildleinwand bringen Greenpeace-Aktivisten Twittermeldungen von Verbrauchern direkt und live vor die Konzerntore von Nestle in Frankfurt. Verbraucher koennen zu Web-Aktivisten werden und aus ganz Deutschland, Oesterreich und der Schweiz zum ersten Mal direkt an einer Greenpeace-Aktivitaet teilnehmen. Zudem haben die Aktivisten an der Fassade des Konzerns ein 25 mal 15 Meter grosses Banner gehaengt, auf dem ein Orang Utan mit einem KitKat-Riegel bedroht wird. Der Grund fur die Aktion: Palmoel von den Plantagen Indonesiens groesstem Urwaldzerstoerers Sinar Mas wird immer noch fur die Herstellung von Nestle Produkten verwendet. Zwar hat Nestle nach Greenpeace Protesten seine direkten Vertraege mit Sinar Mas gekuendigt, bezieht jedoch weiter das Oel ueber Zwischenhaendler.
