"Coal-fired Power Plant" Built in the Heart of Seoul
Greenpeace Seoul built a giant coal-fired power plant in Gwanghwamun Plaza which is one of the most popular tourist places in Korea and located in front of the Blue House, the Korean presidential residence.
The purposes of the location were not only sending our message of stop coal financing to the government and public financial institutes but also helping people to be in shoes of others living next to the power plants.
Activists put three Korean public financial institutes, KEXIM, K-sure, and KDB, on each chimney to show the public that they have invested taxes in overseas coal-fired power plants and contributed to air pollution and climate change and ask their accountable and urgent action.
Activists also distributed black-colored 'fine dust cotton candies' to people for engagement and public awareness raising.
