El Niño Impacts in Northern Thailand
Mr Sunan Tapin, 64, stands at the mango plantation affected by drought due to El Niño phenomenon in Doi Lor district, Chiang Mai province. Mr. Tapin, owns a 3 hectare mango plantation, and is one of the farmers in Chiang Mai that contributed to the creation of a pond to get water supplied to their farms from the Ping river. He is worried that if El Niño continues, farmers will be losing their plantations.
