Prior to a protest in Ghent, Arctic Ambassador Francesca Vanthielen had promised that she would bath in ice if at least 1,000 people participated in the event. She kept her word, even though there were fewer than a thousand participants. More than 17,000 volunteers from around the world have come together in over 200 cities to form human banners which spell out ‘I Love Arctic." The activists are demanding that political leaders protect the pristine Arctic environment.
