Greenpeace volunteer and snowboarder Kurt Leen airs his message to 'Save the Arctic' on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu (2797m) which is New Zealand's largest active volcano. He was part of small team to hike to the summit which overlooks the crater lake. As international polling reveals that 74 percent of people worldwide support the creation of a protected sanctuary in the international waters surrounding the North Pole; climbers and mountaineers are ascending iconic mountain peaks and buildings all over the world, to demand that governments respond to the global outcry to make the creation of a protected Arctic Sanctuary a top priority.
