"Planet Earth First" Light Painting at St. Peter's Square in Rome
A few hours before the meeting between Pope Francis and US President Donald Trump in Rome, Greenpeace activists demonstrate for more climate protection. On St. Peter's Square they light paint the message "Planet Earth First!".
The message, a parody of Trump’s America First government policy, calls on the US administration to commit to global climate action and the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
(Technical information: the light painting is created with a technique called "pixelstick”).

"Planet Earth First" Light Paintings in Rome
US President Donald Trump is meeting Pope Francis in Rome.
In the coming days, Trump will decide whether the US will leave the Paris climate protection agreement. The agreement was made at the end of 2015 after tough negotiations by nearly 200 countries, including the USA. It is a historic milestone for climate protection. According to a Chicago Council survey of November 2016, a majority (71 percent) of the Americans argued that the US would remain in the agreement. Many companies like Google, Microsoft or Walmart, as well as US states and cities, are demanding this. “If Trump comes out of the Paris deal, he damages not only planet Earth, but also his own country. In contrast to Trump, Pope Francis has a clear stand for the protection of the world's climate.”
In occasion of Trump visit at the Vatican, Greenpeace activists project the message "Planet Earth First!” on the dome of St. Peter's Basilica.
