A Critically Endangered Hawksbill Turtle in Samoa
A critically endangered hawksbill turtle ( Eretmochelys imbricata ) swims over a shallow reef at Rose atoll, American Samoa. The Rose Atoll is a showcase of fully protected marine reserve and is already showing the recovery. Greenpeace is campaigning that similar fully protected marine reserves be established in four pocket of the Pacific ocean, so fish stocks and other critically endangered marine species can recover from destructive fishing.
