Activists are holding up banners saying “Vice chairman Chung Yong-jin, show E-Mart’s leadership on reducing plastic” in front of E-Mart, the biggest supermarket chain store in South Korea. Greenpeace Seoul is asking big supermarkets to reduce excessive throwaway plastic packaging. Greenpeace Seoul also released the supermarket report on the survey results from the top five supermarket chains in South Korea on their efforts to reduce unnecessary single-use plastic packaging on March 4th. 

그린피스 활동가들이 이마트 본사 앞에 플라스틱 쓰레기로 가득 찬 대형 카트를 설치하고 일회용 플라스틱 사용 감축을 요구하는 배너를 들어 보이고 있다. 그린피스는 올해 3월 이마트, 홈플러스, 롯데마트, 하나로마트, 메가마트 등 5대 대형마트의 플라스틱 감축 노력을 평가한 <국내 대형마트 일회용 플라스틱 유통 실태 보고서>를 발표하고, 마트들에 불필요한 플라스틱을 줄이기 위한 감축 목표를 세울 것을 요구하고 있다.
