A Man Reads Literature on Bhopal Disaster
A man reads literature about the Bhopal disaster, handed out to pedestrians by activists commemorating the 20th anniversary.
Bhopal, India is the site of the world's worst industrial disaster, where a Union Carbide chemical plant released 40 tonnes of highly toxic Methyl isocyanate. The disaster killed thousands and the polluted site of the abandoned factory still leaks poisons into the groundwater of local residents.
Dow Chemical bought Union Carbide in 2001, but will not accept any responsibility for the clean up of the contaminated site.
