Action Save the Ancient Forests in Finland
Activists span banners in English and Finnish in front of vehicle used for tree felling by the Forest Park Service. Banners read, 'Save the Ancient Forests' and 'Metsahllitus: Missa on jarki ja moraali' (Forest Park Service, (Whatever happened to Sense and Morality). In the North of Finland at the municipality of Puolanka in the Kainuu-region Greenpeace volunteer activists from Finland, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Germany and France demonstrate against the felling of trees by the state owned Forest Parks Service in an ancient forest area. The area is one of the most valuable small-scale waterways. This region is still a place of major concern as new logging plans are underway.
