Anlass fur den Protest sind Berichte uber ein bereits 1999 erteiltes deutsches Patent (DE 19756864 C1), nach dem die Klonierung, die bei dem Klonschaf "Dolly" angewendet wurde, auch auf menschliche Embryonen ubertragen werden soll. Die so produzierten Embryonen sollen als Zellspender dienen.
