Activists Block TOTAL Biorefinery in the South of France
Around 20 activists blocked the entrance of the French bio-refinery owned by TOTAL at La Mède (South of France).
Two containers blocked the road in front of the industrial site, with banners saying "Total deforests" and "Macron accomplice" and a third banner "Deforestation made in France" has been deployed.
This refinery has been authorised by French public authorities, that gave TOTAL permission to import up to 550 000 tonnes of palm oil per year to produce biofuels, which would make the French imports of palm oil raise by more than 60%.
