Aerial view of the front side of the 142m long PFA fishing vessel Margiris in the harbor of IJmuiden. Greenpeace activists prevented the Margiris from leaving IJmuiden port for almost a week. The activists occupy one of the hawsers.
Big ships like this catch such enormous amounts of fish that the local fishery community in the countries of where they fish close by get into problems.
UPDATE: In late 2012, the Margiris was renamed 'Abel Tasman.'

Margiris Trawler Blockade in IJmuiden
Greenpeace activists have prevented for almost a week that Europe’s largest PFA (Pelagic Freezer Trawler Association) fishing vessel, the ‘Margiris’ leaves IJmuiden port. The activists occupy one of the hawsers of the ship. They also hang a large banner at the side of the ship reading: 'Stop exporting overcapacity - Greenpeace'. The Margiris was about to leave for Australia to plunder the fishing grounds in the area around that country.
