But one pass by a bottom trawler alters the seabed and can destroy a delicate balance beyond imagination. Greenpeace is shining a spotlight on the fishing companies who are continuing to operate in this part of the Arctic. Most of the vessels operating in the area are using bottom trawl, pulling huge nets to scoop up fish, a practice which is damaging to the seabed and all the creatures that live here. A big part of the seafood industry recently promised to stay out of these pristine waters, but sadly nothing stops other companies from sending massive bottom trawlers to plunder its sea life. To halt the destruction of this unique part of the world, Norway must decide to protect it once and for all – before it is too late.
