Ancient Himalayan Hemlock Tree in Yunnan, China
Drone image of Tsuga dumosa, commonly called the Himalayan hemlock or, in Chinese, Yunnan tieshan, a species of conifer native to the eastern Himalayas.
The Yunnan hemlock forest governs the cool forest ecosystem of northwest Yunnan, and is important habitat for many rare animals and plants.
It is mainly grown at an altitude of 2,400 to 3,500 meters and is characterized by coniferous tree species.
The flora and fauna in Yunnan hemlock forest are very rich and diverse, one of the most diverse vegetation types of the Three Parallel Rivers.
The Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Yunnan province, China. It lies within the drainage basins of the upper reaches of the Yangtze (Jinsha), Lancang (Mekong) and Nujiang (Salween) rivers, in the Yunnan section of the Hengduan Mountains.
