Anti-Oil Drilling March in Athens
Greenpeace Greece participated in a march to protest against the oil exploration and drilling planned for many areas all over Greece, on land and sea. The march was organised by several local initiatives against oil drilling all over Greece: Athens, Ioannina, Preveza and Arta in Epirus, the region of Thesprotia in Epirus, Ithaca and Cephalonia on the Ionian islands. Many other initiatives and collectives participated in the march, that finished outside the Greek parliament. The message was clear: oil drilling is a threat for us and the environment. We have to Break free from oil and fossil fuels to have a future with clean, renewable energy and avoid irreversible climate change. We only have 12 years to save the planet.
