Indian Ocean FADs Tour
Greenpeace investigates the fishing vessels that are using FADs, fish aggregating device, a highly destructive fishing technique, in the Mozambique Channel. The tour also aims to document fishing activities in key ports for the tuna industry in the Indian Ocean - Victoria in the Seychelles and Diego in Madagascar. The use of FADs in destructive purse seine fishing increases bycatch of endangered species such sharks, silky sharks, marlin, turtles. Greenpeace calls for a full ban on FADs.
