Austrian Activists Protest Italian Nuclear Program
As a reaction to Italy’s plans for building new nuclear facilities just over the border, twenty activists stage a mock “die-in” scene at the Neue Markt in the center of Klagenfurt. They wear protective clothing and hold Geiger counters, while alarm sirens alert passersby to the dangers of the current nuclear policies. A banner reads "Atomgefahr Aus Italien: Aufwachen, Herr Dörfler!" (Nuclear Danger from Italy: Wake Up Mr. Dörfler) which calls for the governor of Carinthia to apply political pressure on the neighboring country of Italy.
