Scientific Turtle Research Expedition in French Guiana
The beaches of French Guiana are popular places for leatherback sea turtles during the nesting season.
A team from Greenpeace France went to Yalimapo and Cayenne with Damien Chevallier, a CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) researcher, for a scientific mission.
By equipping the turtles with GPS beacons and on-board cameras, the goal of the expedition is to understand better the behavior of these animals and learn how better protect them.
