Toxic fumes from four chemical leaks since October 14 have downed around 70 people in nearby communities, but CTC has yet to disclose what chemicals, and in what quantities, have spilled out to the environment due to their operations. The discharge pipe empties directly into a small creek that flows through nearby communities and into freshwater springs in the vicinity, before it joins tributaries to Launa Lake. Greenpeace is demanding full disclosure of the toxic chemicals from CTC, as well as full cooperation from the company in the investigation of the case so that Cleanway is accountable for damage inflicted on human health and the environment, and responsible for clean up of contamination.Locations:Asia-Cavite-Southeast AsiaDate:30 Oct, 2009Credit:© Greenpeace / Joseph AgcaoiliMaximum size:2005px X 3000pxKeywords:Activists-Chemical industry-Chemicals-Danger-Day-Direct communications-Gas masks-Health-KWCI (GPI)-Outdoors-Protective clothing-Samples-Sampling (activity)-Signs-Toxic waste-Toxics (campaign title)-Two people-Waste disposal-Water-Water pollution-YellowShoot:Bearing Witness at Toxic Chemical Company in the PhilippinesA Greenpeace Water Patrol bearing witness activity in the waste treatment company Cleanway Technology Corporation (CTC) in Silang, Cavite, around 55 kilometres south of Manila.
