Municipal Forest of Goettingen
A beech grove within a mixed forest in the municipal woodland of Goettingen is ecologically valuable and important. Deciduous forests, as a CO2 sink, are of vital importance for the climate and provide home to numerous animal and plant species.
Foresters protect 10 percent of the municipal forest of Goettingen from any further forestry exploitation. They manage the forest adhering to the ecological principles of "Naturnahe Waldnutzung" (natural woodland development).
