Boreal Forest - Kenogami Forest in Ontario
Greenpeace launched its Kleercut campaign in 2004 to help protect ancient forests in Canada. For years, the Kenogami and Ogoki Forests in northern Ontario were massively clear-cut, destroying important habitat to threatened wildlife. On August 5, 2009, after 5 years of worldwide protests, scientific and exposé reports, media mobilization, and shareholder engagement, Greenpeace and the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the world’s largest tissue-product manufacturer, announced a historic agreement to ensure greater protection and sustainable management of Canada's Boreal Forest and other ancient forests around the world.
