Experts suggest that these forest areas are especially important to protect as reference areas and functional nature. The area was named a local pearl of nature by WWF in 2015. Parts of the natural forest at Brännvinsberget, which is included in the Ore Skogsrike has been logged by state owned forest company Sveaskog. The area was a habitat for a wide range of red-listed species.
