Seven climbers climbed the Vashi Bridge by pinning a banner of hope towards cleaning up Mumbai’s air. The 60 ft x 22ft foot banner said “Mumbai Clean Air Now!”. The banner on the busy Vashi bridge, which sees thousands of vehicles passing daily was to symbolize the impact of emissions from vehicles on our air quality.

Break Free from Air Pollution Action in Mumbai
Greenpeace activists have pinned a huge banner to a bridge in Mumbai, demanding “Break Free from Air Pollution”. India’s air pollution, officially the worst in the world, continues to deteriorate as highlighted in a Greenpeace India report Airpocalyse II issued earlier this year.
The government of India is preparing a national action plan to deal with air pollution scandal, and a draft was obtained by Greenpeace India.
Greenpeace India has welcomed the National Action Plan as a good start, but urged the government to make the plans more transparent so that Indians can follow what action is being taken, and what impact it is having on air quality.
