Brent Spar Towed in Erfjord
After two weeks under tow from the original dump site in the North Atlantic, Shell's oil storage platform Brent Spar, escorted by the Greenpeace ship Altair, is towed into Erfjord in Norway. Erfjord was where the Spar was originally assembled in the mid 1970's. Shell has been given permission by the Norwegian authorities to anchor the Spar for one year while decisions are made about decommissioning on shore.
