Bonn, 19 May 2008 - 500 children and young people with Greenpeace are demonstrating for ancient forests and the climate to be protected at the start of the UN biodiversity conference (Convention on Biological Diversity) in Bonn. The Kids for Earth having travelled from Spain; Holland; Brazil; Switzerland and Germany will at 2 p.m. meet the German environment minister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD social democrats); the mayor of Bonn; Bärbel Diekmann (SPD); and the CBD's executive secretary; Ahmed Djoghlaf; on the main stage at the conference site. Dressed as ancient-forest animals; trees and butterflies; the children will there hand over 30 sacks marked 'post for Sigmar'. The Kids for Earth will in this way be posting a petition signed by 115;000 people in Germany calling on the German government to give greater protection to ancient forests and the climate. Mai 2008 - Zum Auftakt der UN-Biodiversitätskonferenz (Convention on Biological Diversity) in Bonn demonstrieren 500 Kinder und Jugendliche mit Greenpeace für den Schutz der Urwälder und des Klimas. Die aus Spanien, Holland, Brasilien, der Schweiz und Deutschland angereisten Kids for Earth treffen um 14 Uhr auf der Hauptbühne des Konferenzgeländes den deutschen Umweltminister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD), die Bonner Oberbürgermeisterin Bärbel Diekmann (SPD) und den Exekutivsekretär der CBD, Ahmed Djoghlaf. Verkleidet als Urwaldtiere, Bäume und Schmetterlinge, werden die Kinder dort 30 Säcke mit der Aufschrift "Post für Sigmar" übergeben. Die Kids for Earth werden auf diese Weise eine von 115.000 Menschen in Deutschland unterzeichnete Petition aufgeben, in der die Bundesregierung aufgefordert wird, den Schutz der Urwälder und des Klimas zu verbessern.
