Chris Thorne, Oceans campaigner Greenpeace UK, is filmed aboard the MY Esperanza.

Boulder Placement in the Offshore Brighton Marine Protected Area (Photo)

Greenpeace activists on the ship Esperanza are building a new underwater boulder barrier in the Offshore Brighton marine protected area in the English Channel, closing 55 square miles, one fifth of its total area, to destructive bottom trawling. The offshore Brighton MPA is one of the UK's most heavily bottom trawled protected areas.
Greenpeace urges the UK government to ban bottom trawlers and supertrawlers from fishing in all of the UK’s marine protected areas.
